Dual anticancer drug delivery of D-galactose-functionalized stimuli-responsive nanogels for targeted therapy of the liver hepatocellular carcinoma

Malihe Pooresmaeil et al.

Summary: In this research, a new double-responsive nanogel with pH and temperature sensitivity, as well as photoluminescent properties, was designed and fabricated. The success in fabrication was confirmed using common characterization techniques. The potential of the nanogel as a targeted drug carrier was evaluated, and it showed good performance in loading and controlled release of anticancer drugs. The nanogel also demonstrated good biocompatibility and bioimaging potential, making it a promising medical nanovehicle for cancer cells monitoring and co-drug delivery.

pH-sensitive curcumin conjugated micelles for tumor triggered drug delivery

Hamid Rashidzadeh et al.

Summary: A novel polymer-curcumin conjugate was developed for cancer therapy, which showed good stability in physiological environments but triggered drug release in mildly acidic conditions. The nano-conjugate exhibited significant cytotoxicity on breast cancer cells and low hemolysis rate, indicating its potential as a promising drug delivery system for anticancer drugs.

Indirect effects of the COVID-19 pandemic on malaria intervention coverage, morbidity, and mortality in Africa: a geospatial modelling analysis

Daniel J. Weiss et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the impact of disruptions to malaria control on malaria incidence and mortality in Africa. Findings show that reductions in access to effective antimalarial drug treatment and insecticide-treated net coverage could lead to increased malaria burden, potentially doubling malaria mortality in 2020.

Chloroquine Potentiates the Anticancer Effect of Pterostilbene on Pancreatic Cancer by Inhibiting Autophagy and Downregulating the RAGE/STAT3 Pathway

Rong-Jane Chen et al.

Summary: The study explores the combined application of pterostilbene and chloroquine in treating pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma, demonstrating that the combination effectively inhibits autophagy, reduces cell viability, and enhances apoptosis induced by pterostilbene. Results from animal experiments indicate that the combined application significantly inhibits pancreatic cancer growth and delays tumor quadrupling times.
