Non-parametric spatial curvature inference using late-Universe cosmological probes

Suhail Dhawan et al.

Summary: This study proposes a non-parametric method to infer the spatial curvature parameter Omega(K) from late-Universe probes, obtaining constraints that are free from parametric model assumptions and insensitive to overall calibration. Applying this method to future surveys, it is forecasted that Omega(K) can be constrained at the O(10-2) level.

Using Pantheon and DES supernova, baryon acoustic oscillation, and Hubble parameter data to constrain the Hubble constant, dark energy dynamics, and spatial curvature

Shulei Cao et al.

Summary: By jointly analyzing data from various cosmological models, we obtained model-independent estimates of the Hubble constant and non-relativistic matter density parameter, as well as more restrictive constraints by including data from quasar angular size and H II starburst galaxy measurements.

The galaxy power spectrum take on spatial curvature and cosmic concordance

Sunny Vagnozzi et al.

Summary: The debate over the concordance of the ACDM cosmological model in light of current observations remains ongoing. However, utilizing measurements from datasets such as the Baryon Oscillation Spectroscopic Survey can help break the geometrical degeneracy, providing new perspectives on a flat Universe while also revealing tension between Planck and P(k) data under the assumption of a curved Universe.

General relativistic effects in weak lensing angular power spectra

Nastassia Grimm et al.

Summary: Advances in upcoming weak lensing surveys have posed new challenges for accurate modeling of lensing observables, especially at large angular scales accessible by Euclid. The impact of line-of-sight velocities on lensing magnification, known as the Doppler magnification, has been recognized in literature. General relativistic potential terms slightly enhance the signal in the weak lensing angular power spectra.

Monopole fluctuation of the CMB and its gauge invariance

Sandra Baumgartner et al.

Summary: The paper presents a gauge-invariant theoretical description of observed CMB temperature anisotropies and calculates the monopole power. It shows that once cosmological parameters are chosen, the monopole fluctuation can be inferred from the observed CMB temperature, making it a model-dependent observable.

Eppur e piatto? The Cosmic Chronometers Take on Spatial Curvature and Cosmic Concordance

Sunny Vagnozzi et al.

Summary: Recent studies have discussed the question of whether the universe is spatially closed by combining Planck data with external data sets, ultimately concluding that the universe is spatially flat. By utilizing cosmic chronometers data to break the geometrical degeneracy, the study provides a stable estimate of the spatial curvature of the universe.

Curvature tension: Evidence for a closed universe

Will Handley

Summary: The tension in the curvature parameter measured between Planck 2018, cosmic microwave background (CMB) lensing, and baryon acoustic oscillation (BAO) data is 2.5-3 sigma using the suspiciousness statistic. Conclusions about the spatial curvature of the Universe from these data should be viewed with suspicion. Without CMB lensing or BAO, Planck 2018 has a moderate preference for closed universes.
