CMB-S4: Forecasting Constraints on Primordial Gravitational Waves

Kevork Abazajian et al.

Summary: CMB-S4 is the next-generation ground-based cosmic microwave background (CMB) experiment, designed to improve the sensitivity of CMB measurements and enhance our understanding of the origin and evolution of the universe. This study presents a forecasting framework that uses a power-spectrum-based semianalytic projection tool to optimize constraints on the tensor-to-scalar ratio. The framework is unique in its use of information from current CMB experiments to predict the effectiveness of future CMB-polarization endeavors. The study also includes map-based validation studies, allowing for additional complexity and independent verification of the forecasts.

Primordial trispectrum from kinetic Sunyaev-Zel?dovich tomography

Neha Anil Kumar et al.

Summary: The kinetic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect provides a powerful probe of the radial-velocity field of matter distributed across the Universe. This measurement can be used to probe primordial non-Gaussianity and the trispectrum amplitude tau NL. Cross-correlation between the velocity field and the galaxy density field allows for scale-dependent bias factor measurements. The sensitivity of these measurements can be significantly improved with high galaxy number density and large survey volume.

Mitigating the optical depth degeneracy using the kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich effect with CMB-S4 data

Marcelo A. Alvarez et al.

Summary: This study investigates the kinematic Sunyaev-Zel'dovich (kSZ) effect as a probe of reionization, demonstrating its potential to provide detailed information about the reionization epoch and enable high-precision cosmological constraints on the neutrino mass using high-sensitivity, high-resolution data from the upcoming CMB-S4 experiment. By combining the kSZ two-point function and the reconstructed kSZ four-point function, degeneracies between key parameters can be strongly broken, resulting in tight constraints on both parameters. The forecasted constraints on tau and Delta z show promising results for future cosmological studies.

Optimal filters for the moving lens effect

Selim C. Hotinli et al.

Summary: The study assesses the potential for detecting the moving lens effect through cosmological surveys, introducing optimal filters for this signal and forecasting a high significance detection with upcoming experiments. It also discusses the prospects for reconstructing the bulk transverse velocity field on large scales using matched filters, showing good agreement with previous work using quadratic estimators.
