Symmetry-preserving enforcement of low-dissipation method based on boundary variation diminishing principle

Hiro Wakimura et al.

Summary: A class of high-order shock-capturing schemes, PnTm-BVD, has been developed to solve Euler equations with reduced numerical dissipation. This study thoroughly examines the mechanisms of symmetry-breaking in a finite volume framework with the P4T2-BVD reconstruction scheme and proposes modifications to completely remove the causes for symmetry breaking. Benchmark tests confirm perfect symmetric solution structures.

An Efficient Low-Dissipation High-Order TENO Scheme for MHD Flows

LinT Fu

Summary: In this paper, an efficient low-dissipation high-order TENO scheme is proposed for ideal MHD flows. The scheme uses a troubled-cell indicator to separate smooth regions from discontinuities, and applies high-order linear scheme and low-dissipation TENO scheme respectively. The proposed scheme shows remarkable speedup while maintaining oscillation-free property and high-order accuracy.

On the performance of WENO/TENO schemes to resolve turbulence in DNS/LES of high-speed compressible flows

Arash Hamzehloo et al.

Summary: The study aims to quantify the potential of the new TENO schemes in fully turbulent supersonic flow. Results show that the TENO schemes exhibit significant performance improvements over the WENO schemes in resolving turbulent structures, especially in terms of statistical accuracy and three-dimensional vortical structure resolution.

Shock-induced heating and transition to turbulence in a hypersonic boundary layer

Lin Fu et al.

Summary: The study investigates the interaction between a hypersonic laminar boundary layer and an incident shock wave over a cold wall, finding that at high incidence angles, the boundary layer transitions to turbulence shortly downstream of the shock impingement. Higher incidence angles lead to increased thermomechanical loads, and WMLES can accurately predict DNS results with lower computational cost.

CWENO Finite-Volume Interface Capturing Schemes for Multicomponent Flows Using Unstructured Meshes

Panagiotis Tsoutsanis et al.

Summary: This paper extends the application of high-order finite-volume central-weighted essentially non-oscillatory (CWENO) schemes to multicomponent flows using the interface capturing paradigm, achieving high-order accurate and oscillation free solutions. The schemes are compact and perform well, but have limitations within the present interface-capturing implementation.

Direct numerical simulation of a hypersonic transitional boundary layer at suborbital enthalpies

M. Di Renzo et al.

Summary: The study analyzes a Mach-10 hypersonic boundary layer of air over a cold, isothermal wall using direct numerical simulations, focusing on chemical reactions and transition to turbulence. The boundary layer experiences dissociation due to viscous aerodynamic heating, leading to the production of oxygen, nitric oxide, and other chemical compounds.

Velocity transformation for compressible wall-bounded turbulent flows with and without heat transfer

Kevin Patrick Griffin et al.

Summary: A transformation method mapping compressible wall-bounded turbulent flows to the incompressible law of the wall has been proposed, successfully collapsing numerical simulation data from various flows without specific tuning. The transformation is successful across the entire inner layer of the boundary layer, verifying its performance for compressible wall-bounded flows.
