Regulating wound moisture for accelerated healing: A strategy for the continuous drainage of wound exudates by mimicking plant transpiration

Ying Li et al.

Summary: Inspired by the hierarchical structure of sugarcane, a self-draining sugarcane stem-based dressing was fabricated for removing exudates from overhydrated wounds, facilitating accelerated wound healing through plant transpiration mimicry and photothermal responsiveness. The dressing showed high evaporation efficiency and antibacterial properties, providing effective thermal insulation for wound protection. This study may offer a new strategy for versatile and efficient self-draining dressings for exudate management and wound healing using sustainable green resources.

Control of Polymorphic Properties of Multivalent Vanadium Oxide Thin Films

Bunyod Allabergenov et al.

Summary: In this study, VxOy thin films were deposited on borosilicate glass substrates using DC magnetron sputtering to investigate the optoelectronic thermochromic properties of the resulting multiphase vanadium oxide thin films. The annealing process at different temperatures was found to affect the semiconductor-to-metallic phase transition temperature, infrared transmittance variation, and resistivity switch of the vanadium oxide film. The results also showed that the thermal treatment temperature had an impact on the width of the thermal hysteresis loop and slope stiffness, which are crucial for the development of ultrafast tunable energy-saving smart windows and IR switches.
