3D flower-like perylenetetracarboxylic-Zn(II) superstructures/Bi2WO6 step-scheme heterojunctions with enhanced visible light photocatalytic performance

Summary: The study synthesized flower-like perylenetetracarboxylic-Zn(II) superstructures with Zn2+ ions and constructed a step-scheme heterojunction with Bi2WO6. This heterojunction significantly improved the photocatalytic efficiency for tetracycline degradation compared with pure Zn-PTC and Bi2WO6. The step-scheme charge transfer pathway effectively inhibited the recombination of photo-generated charges and utilized the different oxidation and reduction abilities of Zn-PTC and Bi2WO6.

This material has the potential to be an ideal candidate for removing antibiotics from wastewater.
