Bio-inspired covalent crosslink of aramid nanofibers film for improved mechanical performances

E. Songfeng et al.

Summary: In this study, ANF was hydrolyzed and carboxylated, then covalently crosslinked with polydopamine (PDA) to form a paperlike film. The covalently crosslinked composite film exhibited improved mechanical strength and toughness compared to pure ANF and un-crosslinked PDA-ANF films, suggesting that covalent bonds are more effective than hydrogen bonds in enhancing the mechanical properties of ANF paper.
