Summary: This study investigates the use of tannic acid as an admixture in concrete to enhance its performance and eco-efficiency by modifying the structure of hydration products. Tannic acid can reduce total porosity and capillary pores in mortar, as well as increase packing densities and elastic modulus of hydration products. Additionally, the presence of tannic acid results in more uniform distribution of stress in concrete, leading to better mechanical performance.
