Biochar from waste agriculture as reinforcement filer for styrene/butadiene rubber

Mahmoud E. Abd El-Aziz et al.

Summary: This study investigates the impact of biochar on the mechanical properties of styrene/butadiene rubber, finding that adding biochar reduces the tensile strength of rubber composites. Compared to composites containing 100% carbon black, the vulcanized rubber sample with 25% biochar shows higher retained tensile strength values.

The Characteristics of Natural Rubber Composites with Klason Lignin as a Green Reinforcing Filler: Thermal Stability, Mechanical and Dynamical Properties

Jutharat Intapun et al.

Summary: The research showed that Klason lignin as a filler had a significant impact on the thermal stability and mechanical properties of natural rubber composites, with enhanced effects up to a certain loading percentage. The composite samples with 10 phr filler loading exhibited the highest mechanical properties and resistance to thermo-oxidative degradation, indicating potential interactions between the filler and natural rubber matrix. Klason lignin from rubberwood could be a green antioxidant and reinforcing filler for eco-friendly natural rubber biocomposites.

Influence of Fillers and Ionic Liquids on the Crosslinking and Performance of Natural Rubber Biocomposites

Magdalena Maciejewska et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of three different white fillers and ionic liquids on natural rubber compounds. The results showed that silica filler improved thermal stability, hydrotalcite enhanced mechanical properties but reduced thermal stability, and ionic liquids positively impacted curing characteristics and mechanical performance.

Biochars derived from bamboo and rice straw for sorption of basic red dyes

Ebenezer Ampofo Sackey et al.

Summary: This study focused on removing Basic Red 46 dye from aqueous solutions using biochars prepared from bamboo and rice straw biomass through batch experiments. Characterization of the biochars showed that rice straw biochar had higher adsorption efficiency and capacity compared to bamboo biochar, with adsorption increasing with higher temperature and pH levels. The mechanism of adsorption was identified as electrostatic interaction, with rice straw biochar showing greater adsorption capacity.

Preparation and Characterization of Eco-Friendly Spent Coffee/ENR50 Biocomposite in Comparison to Carbon Black

Gunasunderi Raju et al.

Summary: This study found that incorporating 10 phr of spent coffee biochar can improve the composites' tensile properties and thermal performance, but delays vulcanization time. Biochar significantly affects the morphology of composite films, while there is no substantial difference in compounds with biochar and CB based on FTIR analysis.
