A plasma fatty acid profile associated to type 2 diabetes development: from the CORDIOPREV study

Alejandro Villasanta-Gonzalez et al.

Summary: The study identified a plasma fatty acid profile associated with the development of T2DM, which can be used as a predictive biomarker. Patients with higher FA scores were more likely to develop T2DM and had lower insulin sensitivity and higher hepatic insulin resistance.

Optimization and Validation of the GC/FID Method for the Quantification of Fatty Acids in Bee Products

Laurynas Jarukas et al.

Summary: This study aimed to compare the total fatty acid concentration in four bee products collected from Lithuania. Through optimization of derivatization parameters and using the GC-FID method, it was found that the highest total yield of fatty acids was obtained using the conventional heating process at 70 degrees C for 90 minutes. Excellent linearity and accuracy were achieved under optimal conditions, making it suitable for qualitative analysis of fatty acids in bee products.

A Validated Method for Quantification of Fatty Acids Incorporated in Human Plasma Phospholipids by Gas Chromatography-Triple Quadrupole Mass Spectrometry

Hans-F Schoett et al.

Summary: This study developed and validated a gas chromatography-triple quadrupole mass selective detection method for absolute quantification of fatty acids in human plasma phospholipids, allowing direct comparison of individual fatty acid concentrations and monitoring of C-13-labeled tracers. Results from both methods showed high comparability of FA concentrations and the method's accuracy and reproducibility were confirmed through full validation. Improved specificity and sensitivity were achieved using this GC-TQMS method, demonstrating its potential in human isotope enrichment studies.

Comprehensive analysis of fatty acids in human milk of four Asian countries

My Tuyen T. Nguyen et al.

Summary: The study found significant differences in human milk fatty acid compositions among different Asian countries, with Pakistani breast milk having high saturated fat content and low unsaturated fatty acids, indicating the need for DHA supplementation in infants. Additionally, the average DHA: ARA ratio in Asian human milk was 1.01.
