Visualising the Emerging Platform of Using Microalgae as a Sustainable Bio-Factory for Healthy Lipid Production through Biocompatible AIE Probes

Ahm Mohsinul Reza et al.

Summary: This study focuses on using aggregation-induced emission (ATE) technology to detect lipid accumulation in green microalgae. By labeling lipid droplets (LDs) with 2-DPAN and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) with TPE-BO, the conditions and process of lipid formation were studied. Compared with traditional methods, 2-DPAN technology is efficient and wash-free, making it suitable for lipid imaging.

Hydrogen peroxide and salinity stress act synergistically to enhance lipids production in microalga by regulating reactive oxygen species and calcium

Tengsheng Qiao et al.

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the effects of combined salt stress and hydrogen peroxide treatment on lipid accumulation in Monoraphidium sp. QLY-1. The results showed that the combined treatment significantly increased lipid productivity. The study further indicated that regulating factors like ROS, Ca2+, and MAPK can promote biomass regulation and lipid accumulation in microalgae.

Influence of Light Conditions on Microalgae Growth and Content of Lipids, Carotenoids, and Fatty Acid Composition

Yevhen Maltsev et al.

Summary: Microalgae are a valuable natural resource for producing a variety of value-added products. The optimal light intensity for their growth is around 26,400 µmol photons m(-2) s(-1), with higher intensity leading to increased lipid synthesis and triacylglyceride content. Light intensity also affects the synthesis of fatty acids and carotenoids in microalgae biomass. Additionally, combining light with other stresses can enhance the productivity of algae.
