Insights into the CeO2 facet-depended performance of propane oxidation over Pt-CeO2 catalysts

Jinshi Dong et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the facet-dependent propane oxidation performance of Pt-CeO2 catalysts using CeO2 materials with different morphologies. The nano-lamellar CeO2 with mainly exposed (110) facet exhibits the best catalytic activity among the various catalysts. The amount of oxygen vacancies and Pt size/Pt charge, influenced by ageing and reduction pretreatments, have significant effects on the performances of Pt-CeO2 catalysts. The research provides insights into the electronic interactions between metal and active surfaces, contributing to the development of more efficient exhaust catalysts.

Platinum deposited on 2D and 3D mesoporous silica materials for the catalytic oxidation of volatile organic compounds: The oxidation of m-xylene and methanol

Ching-Shiun Chen et al.

Summary: The study compared Pt particles deposited on 3D cage-type SBA-16 and 2D-hexagonal SBA-15 mesoporous silica for the total oxidation of m-xylene and methanol. Pt particles on SBA-15 showed better catalytic performance due to their stronger ability to dissociate reaction molecules and produce smaller particles, enhancing catalytic activity in oxidation reactions. This indicates that the support of SBA-15 leads to notable CO formation while also exhibiting high activity for methanol oxidation.
