Association networks and social temporal dynamics in ewes and lambs

Laura Ozella et al.

Summary: This study assessed the social relationships between ewes and lambs in a sheep farm and found stable social bonds between dams and lambs, as well as among lambs of the same litter. However, temporary social instability occurred after management interventions. This study provides valuable insights into the social organization of sheep.

Non-random associations in group housed rats (Rattus norvegicus)

Leanne Proops et al.

Summary: Ecological factors are not the only reason for sociability, as non-random associations within a group can provide fitness advantages. Limited research on social behavior of rats has shown that individuals in rat groups may have preferred associates, which can be stable over time. Further studies on groups with different demographic compositions are needed to confirm these findings.
