Investigation of product selectivity and kinetics of poplar sawdust catalytic pyrolysis over bi-metallic Iron-Nickel/ZSM-5 catalyst

Yingkai Li et al.

Summary: In this study, the product selectivity and kinetics of poplar sawdust catalytic pyrolysis over bi-metallic Fe-Ni/ZSM-5 were investigated using thermogravimetric analysis and Py-GC/MS. The results showed that Fe-Ni/ZSM-5 exhibited higher selectivity towards monocyclic aromatic hydrocarbons compared to monometallic catalysts. The addition of Fe-Ni/ZSM-5 also reduced the activation energy of the pyrolysis process, making it a potentially valuable catalyst for biomass conversion.

Deactivation mechanism and regeneration effect of bi-metallic Fe-Ni/ ZSM-5 catalyst during biomass catalytic pyrolysis

Yingkai Li et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the deactivation process and regeneration effects of bimetallic Fe-Ni/ZSM-5 catalysts in the catalytic pyrolysis of poplar sawdust. The results showed that the deoxygenation activity and hydrocarbon yield of the catalyst were influenced by the biomass/catalyst ratio. The coke resistance capacity of the catalyst was increased, and the regenerated catalyst retained deoxygenation activity with slightly reduced aromatic yield.

Valorization of lignin into phenolic compounds via fast pyrolysis: Impact of lignin structure

Jiang-Meng Yuan et al.

Summary: Understanding the structure activity relationships of lignin is important for its thermochemical conversion. This study characterized lignins from different sources and evaluated their activities in fast pyrolysis. The results showed that herbaceous lignins produced more phenolic compounds, indicating the efficient cleavage of C-O linkages in these lignins.

Catalytic fast pyrolysis of cellulose over different metal-modified ZSM-5 zeolites for light olefins

Jing 'ai Shao et al.

Summary: This study investigated the effects of different metal-modified ZSM-5 catalysts on the production of light olefins from cellulose fast pyrolysis. It was found that Cu-ZSM-5 catalyst had the highest yield of light olefins. The results also suggested that increasing the other-pore volume and surface area, as well as medium and strong acidity of ZSM-5 catalyst, could promote the formation of light olefins.

Catalytic pyrolysis of biomass over Fe-modified hierarchical ZSM-5: Insights into mono-aromatics selectivity and pyrolysis behavior using Py-GC/MS and TG-FTIR

Yingkai Li et al.

Summary: Catalytic pyrolysis with Fe-modified hierarchical ZSM-5 catalysts showed enhanced selectivity towards monoaromatics, which was attributed to the improved acidity and hierarchical structure introduced by alkali treatment and Fe loading. Additionally, the kinetic analysis demonstrated a lower apparent activation energy for the catalytic pyrolysis process.

High-grade biofuel production from catalytic pyrolysis of waste clay oil using modified activated seaweed carbon-based catalyst

Chuan Yuan et al.

Summary: In this study, seaweed char-based catalyst modified with copper loading showed good catalytic performance in pyrolysis of waste clay oil, leading to high-quality biofuels with significant decarboxylation and aromatization effects. The catalyst effectively reformed pyrolysis volatiles, promoting the production of hydrocarbons, especially aromatic hydrocarbons. The hydrogen content in the gas-phase product decreased significantly, possibly due to hydrogenation reactions catalyzed by the modified seaweed char-based catalyst.
