Upconversion Thermometry Using Yb3+/Er3+ Co-Doped KY3F10 Nanoparticles

By tuning the excitation wavelength to 975 nm for resonant excitation with optical transitions of the Yb3+ ion, the highest thermal sensitivities and temperature uncertainties were achieved. High-resolution Yb3+ excitation spectra were recorded by observing Er3+ upconversion fluorescence, with significant enhancement in fluorescence intensity observed for core and core-shell nanoparticles.
