Advanced functional magnetic microwires for technological applications

Arcady Zhukov et al.

Summary: This article provides an overview of the development of low-cost magnetic microwires with insulating, flexible, and biocompatible glass coating. The magnetic properties of these microwires can be tuned, and they exhibit excellent magnetic softness and fast domain wall propagation. Various methods, such as heat treatment and stress annealing, can be used to further improve their magnetic properties. The article also discusses the influence of structure and chemical composition on the magnetic and transport properties of crystalline microwires. The potential applications and future developments of magnetic microwires are briefly discussed.

Disorder Induced Magnetic Behavior of Non-Stoichiometric Co0.75Mn0.5Fe0.75Si Full-Heusler Alloy

Bal Govind et al.

Summary: This report attempted to grow non-stoichiometric Heusler alloys and successfully grew the Co0.75Mn0.5Fe0.75Si composition, finding slight differences in its magnetic properties compared to stoichiometric Heusler alloys. The presence of co-existence of ferromagnetic and antiferromagnetic states in the Co0.75Mn0.5Fe0.75Si sample due to disorder in its structure is significant, indicating potential importance in magneto-resistive devices and sensors.

Development of Co-Rich Microwires with Graded Magnetic Anisotropy

Valentina Zhukova et al.

Summary: In this paper, a gradual change in the hysteresis loop of Co-rich glass-coated microwire stress-annealed at variable temperature is observed. Such microwires annealed with a temperature gradient also present a variable squareness ratio and magnetic anisotropy field along the microwire's length. The obtained graded anisotropy has been attributed to a gradual modification of the domain structure along the microwire originated by a counterbalance between shape, magnetoelastic, and induced magnetic anisotropies. Accordingly, we propose a rather simple route to design graded magnetic anisotropy in a magnetic microwire.

Mohamed Salaheldeen et al.

Summary: In this study, Co2FeSi Heusler alloy glass-covered microwires with metallic nucleus and glass-coated layer were successfully fabricated. XRD analysis revealed a mixed structure of crystalline and amorphous phases in the metallic nucleus. Magnetic measurements demonstrated well-defined magnetic anisotropy and soft magnetic behavior. Additionally, a high Curie temperature and potential for high-temperature spintronic applications were reported.

Structural and low-temperature magnetic properties of as-quenched and annealed Ni-Si-B alloys produced by rapid solidification

M. Ipatov et al.

Summary: Structural characterization and temperature dependence of the magnetization were investigated in Ni80Si10B10 and Ni75Si15B10 alloy ribbons produced by rapid solidification. The results showed amorphous character in Ni75Si15B10 alloy and a mixture of amorphous and crystalline phase in Ni80Si10B10 alloy. Lowtemperature magnetization dependencies were analyzed in terms of spin-wave excitation and fluctuations of the exchange interaction, with annealing at 623K resulting in appearance of highly magnetic Ni phase in Ni75 sample.

Summary: This study demonstrates the electrochemical growth of Heusler alloy film on a single-crystalline substrate with good morphological quality and crystalline order. The surface magnetization reversal of the films is revealed using static magneto optical Kerr effect studies. The understanding of magnetization dynamics in these materials is presented using time-resolved magneto optical Kerr effect measurements under femtosecond laser excitation, with further insights gained from excitation laser fluence dependence study on ultrafast demagnetization time, fast remagnetization time, and magnetic damping parameter correlations.

Electronic Surveillance and Security Applications of Magnetic Microwires

Valentina Zhukova et al.

Summary: The use of glass-coated microwires for electronic article surveillance and security applications offers a unique combination of excellent magnetic properties, thin dimensions, and strong mechanical and anticorrosive properties. Different methods of tuning the magnetic properties of individual microwires or arrays have been explored, leading to increased harmonics and adjustable magnetic field dependencies. Nonlinear hysteresis loops have been observed in mixed arrays containing Fe- and Co-rich microwires, and the devitrification of amorphous microwires has also resulted in nonlinear hysteresis loops. Annealing can produce semihard magnetic microwires, offering new possibilities for applications.

Giant spin Hall angle in the Hensler alloy Weyl ferromagnet Co2MnGa

L. Leiva et al.

Summary: The inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) in the ferromagnetic Weyl semimetal Heusler alloy Co2MnGa was investigated, revealing a high spin Hall angle and the ability to control the intensity of the spin Hall effect through magnetization direction. Additionally, it was found that Onsager's reciprocity does not hold for this system, possibly due to different spin-dependent Hall conductivity for spin-up and spin-down carriers.
