Improving NV centre density during diamond growth by CVD process using N2O gas

Midrel Wilfried Ngandeu Ngambou et al.

Summary: In this study, the CVD growth conditions were optimized to achieve a high NV density within a high-quality diamond layer. The effects of growth parameters and annealing temperature on NV doping and spin properties were investigated. A high NV density with narrow resonance linewidth was obtained, and defects were efficiently removed through annealing at high temperature.

Low-Temperature Photophysics of Single Nitrogen-Vacancy Centers in Diamond

Jodok Happacher et al.

Summary: We investigate the magnetic field dependent photophysics of individual nitrogen-vacancy (NV) color centers in diamond under cryogenic conditions. At different magnetic fields, we observe significant reductions in the NV photoluminescence rate, indicating a decrease in the optical readout efficiency of the NV's ground state spin. This study provides new insights into the structure of the NVs' excited states and offers a new tool for effective characterization, which can be used to study strain-dependent variations, NV charge state dynamics, and the applicability of NV centers for low-temperature quantum sensing.

Charge State Manipulation of NV Centers in Diamond under Phonon-Assisted Anti-Stokes Excitation of NV0

Yuan-Fei Gao et al.

Summary: In this study, reversible conversion between NV0 and NV- states in diamond is achieved using phonon-assisted anti-Stokes excitation. Two decay processes of NV centers with long lifetimes are observed. The spectral structure of the NV center is modulated by the charge state transition process under anti-Stokes excitation, mainly due to the local electric field generated by the ionization of NV-. These results provide an alternative method for controlling the charge states of nitrogen-vacancy centers.

Impact of Helium Ion Implantation Dose and Annealing on Dense Near-Surface Layers of NV Centers

Andris Berzins et al.

Summary: This study investigates the implantation of helium ions into diamonds to create NV layers. By measuring various parameters, it is found that increasing the implantation dose improves the magnetic sensitivity of the sensors. Additionally, subsequent annealing only has a slight impact on sensitivity.

Investigation of NV centers charge states in CVD diamond layers doped by nitrogen and phosphorous

D. B. Radishev et al.

Summary: Co-doping with nitrogen and phosphorus allows NV centers in diamond to predominantly exist in the NV- state and stabilize it under high excitation laser power. Cooling with liquid nitrogen further increases the fraction of the NV- state, which may be beneficial for optimizing the sensitivity of magnetometers.

Photoluminescence study on the optical properties of silicon-vacancy centre in diamond

Yufei Zhang et al.

Summary: The optical properties of a silicon-vacancy (Si-V) centre were studied using photoluminescence (PL) with temperature and excitation power dependencies. The intensity decrease, red shift, and broadening of line width with increasing temperature were observed, while the PL intensity of Si-V centre was sub-linear with increasing power. Additionally, the Fermi level shifted below the ground state level of Si-V in the irradiation region due to the introduction of neutral single vacancy (GR1) centre, suppressing the PL signal of the Si-V centre.

Temperature dependence of optical centers in Ib diamond characterized by photoluminescence spectra

Bing Dong et al.

Summary: The optical properties of defects in Ib diamond prepared by CVD and HPHT methods were studied using photoluminescence in a temperature range from 77 to 297 K. The temperature dependence of color centers in diamond and the zero-phonon line shift, intensity, and FWHM were analyzed. The study showed significant temperature dependence for the ZPL, with potential for temperature sensing, and a cubic function was found to well describe the broadening of ZPLs.
