Crystallographic and optical properties of wide bandgap photovoltaic semiconductor system, Cu(Al,In)Se 2

Ryoma Yoneda et al.

Summary: In this study, we characterized the optical and electronic properties of chalcopyrite-type Cu(Al,In)Se-2. We found that the bandgap energy of the material increased with increasing Al content. The valence band maximum (VBM) level and ionization energy of the Cu(Al,In)Se-2 system were determined using photoemission yield spectroscopy. Additionally, we analyzed the crystallographic characteristics of Cu(Al,In)Se-2 based on X-ray absorption fine structure (XAFS) spectra.

Unraveling the photoconduction characteristics of single-step synthesized CuS and Cu9S5 micro-flowers

Vishwa Bhatt et al.

Summary: The study synthesized CuS and Cu9S5 micro-flowers via a single-step solvothermal process, and investigated their photoconductors to unveil optoelectronic characteristics and the impact of bandgap on conductivity. A significant increase in photocurrent for Cu9S5 compared to CuS was observed under Halogen light exposure, leading to higher detectivity and responsivity. Additionally, Cu9S5 exhibited maximum responsivity and detectivity at 980 nm, highlighting the importance of the Cu/S ratio on photoconductivity.

In situ growth of SeOx films on the surface of Ni-Fe-selenide nanosheets as highly active and stable electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction

Xiaonan Shang et al.

Summary: This study reports a rapid, facile, green and controllable electrochemical deposition method for the preparation of highly active and stable oxygen evolution reaction (OER) catalysts. SeOx films were grown on the surface of Ni-Fe-selenide nanosheets, forming SeOx/FeNixSe heterojunction nanosheets with interconnected heterostructures, which provide rich active sites and convenient pathways for rapid electron transport, resulting in enhanced catalytic performance.

Holey engineered 2D ZnO-nanosheets architecture for supersensitive ppm level H2 gas detection at room temperature

Manjeet Kumar et al.

Summary: Conquering the challenge of room temperature H-2 detection at ppm/ppb levels is essential for developing highly sensitive/selective sensing devices. By synthesizing 2D ZnO holey nanosheets through controlled oxygen vacancies and annealing, a sensor with improved gas-sensing performance, fast response times, and high stability can be achieved. The unique porous network and large specific surface areas of 2D ZnO holey nanosheets contribute to their superior gas sensing capabilities.

Tailoring the Surface Characteristics of CuSe Thin Films by Adjusting the Compositional Ratio

Jihyeon Lee et al.

Summary: The chemical and physical properties of copper selenide thin films are influenced by the ratio of metallic copper and non-metallic selenium, with copper having a greater impact on the film characteristics. Larger grain sizes are observed when the selenium ratio is high. The hydrophobicity of most copper selenide thin films is strongest when the surface selenium ratio is 16.62%.
