Anomalous precipitate-size-dependent ductility in multicomponent high-entropy alloys with dense nanoscale precipitates

Y. L. Zhao et al.

Summary: The study showcases an unusual ductilization effect in a high-entropy alloy system under peak-aged condition, achieved through a unique multi-staged strain-hardening mechanism that enables an anomalous dependence of ductility on precipitate size.

High density of strong yet deformable intermetallic nanorods leads to an excellent room temperature strength-ductility combination in a high entropy alloy

Bharat Gwalani et al.

Summary: This study introduces a new microstructural template for high entropy alloys with a high density of ordered multi-component intermetallic nanorods, resulting in exceptional room temperature yield strength and good tensile ductility. The thermo-mechanical processing by isothermal annealing has been proven effective in producing the nanorods within refined FCC grains, leading to significantly improved mechanical properties.

Novel high-entropy alloys with high-density ε-D019 and abnormal phase transformation

G. H. Xia et al.

Summary: Precipitation strengthening is an effective method to enhance engineering structural materials, with high-density nanoprecipitates in alloys being a significant challenge. This study developed novel CoFeNiVTa(Nb) high-entropy alloys with high-density epsilon-D0(19) nanoprecipitates featuring Widmanstatten patterns. The superior thermodynamic stability of delta phase compared to epsilon phase was confirmed, contributing to improved strengthens and friction properties of the alloys.
