Bismuth chloride@mesocellular carbon foam nanocomposite cathode materials for rechargeable chloride ion batteries

Chang Zhang et al.

Summary: Chloride ion batteries (CIBs) are a promising energy storage device, but the dissolution and volume change of metal chlorides as cathode materials limit their application. This study presents a new method to confine bismuth chloride nanocrystals in a mesocellular carbon foam matrix, resulting in improved electrochemical performance and prolonged cycling for the metal chloride cathode.

Rational design of Co-free layered cathode material for sodium-ion batteries

Natalia Voronina et al.

Summary: The study found that Ti substitution can improve the performance of sodium-ion battery cathode materials, including increasing initial capacity and capacity retention, as well as reducing volume changes. By pairing with a hard-carbon anode, Na[(Mn0.4Fe0.3Ni0.3)(0.9)Ti-0.1]O-2 achieved excellent cyclability and capacity retention for 300 cycles.

Impact of CO2 activation on the structure, composition, and performance of Sb/C nanohybrid lithium/sodium-ion battery anodes

Suzhe Liang et al.

Summary: CO2 activation is crucial for enhancing the performance of Sb/C nanohybrid anodes, reducing excess carbon content, and improving rate performance. After activation, the average capacity of the Sb/C nanohybrid LIB anode increases by about 18 times at a current density of 3300 mA g(-1). Additionally, the CO2-activated Sb/C nanohybrid also demonstrates good electrochemical performance as a SIB anode.

Chemically presodiated Sb with a fluoride-rich interphase as a cycle-stable anode for high-energy sodium ion batteries

Mengchuang Liu et al.

Summary: A controllable and effective presodiation strategy was introduced to improve the cycle performance of antimony anodes, resulting in a greatly elevated initial coulombic efficiency and superior capacity retention of the Sb-pNa electrode. The NaF-rich SEI film formed on the surface of presodiated antimony anodes not only mitigates undesired side reactions but also significantly inhibits mechanical fracture of the lattice.

Three-Layer Structured SnO2@C@TiO2Hollow Spheres for High-Performance Sodium Storage

Yu Tian et al.

Summary: The unique three-layer structured SnO2@C@TiO(2) hollow spheres have been designed to address the unsatisfactory conductivity and large volume variation issues of SnO(2) in sodium-ion batteries (SIBs). The hollow spheres demonstrate enhanced Na storage performances, with reversible capacity two times higher than that of pristine SnO(2) hollow spheres. Ex situ XRD analysis reveals highly reversible alloying and conversion reactions in the hollow spheres, suggesting a promising strategy for constructing SIB anode materials.
