Meshless discretization of the discrete-ordinates transport equation with integration based on Voronoi cells

Brody R. Bassett et al.

Summary: The time-dependent, gray, linear radiation transport equation is discretized using the meshless local Petrov-Galerkin method with reproducing kernels, integrated using a Voronoi tessellation that automatically adjusts resolution and includes streamline-upwind Petrov-Galerkin stabilization. The angular quadrature can be selectively refined for higher angular resolution, with results indicating first-order convergence in time and second-order convergence in space using Krylov iterative methods for solving transport and scattering source.

Analysis of radiative heat transfer in two-dimensional irregular geometries by develope d immerse d boundary-lattice Boltzmann method

Mahdi Abaszadeh et al.

Summary: The Immersed Boundary-lattice Boltzmann method (IB-LBM) is developed to analyze radiative heat transfer in 2D irregular geometries. By combining the advantages of the immersed boundary method and the lattice Boltzmann method, this method can solve complex 2D radiative heat transfer problems and has been successfully validated.

Key parameter analysis of the DRESOR method for calculating the radiative heat transfer in three-dimensional absorbing, emitting and scattering media

Haidong Liu et al.

Summary: The study analyzed the effects of different discrete methods, the number of direct incident radiation directions (DIRDs), and the number of scattered or reflected energy beams (SREBs) on the solution of the radiative transfer equation. Methods to reduce the error of radiation heat flux were proposed, and recommendations for the parameters of the DRESOR method were provided.

The composite Chebyshev integration method for radiative integral transfer equations in rectangular enclosures

Rui-Rui Zhou et al.

Summary: The composite Chebyshev integration method proposed in this paper divides the computational domain into several subdomains and applies Chebyshev quadrature in each subdomain, maintaining high order convergence accuracy. It solves benchmark problems in rectangular media with continuous/stepwise-change scattering albedo and emissions, presenting solutions rounded to seven significant digits in tabular form for convenience. Compared to the collocation spectral method (CSM) and its modified version for radiative transfer equation (RTE), the composite Chebyshev integration method for RITEs achieves higher accuracy with acceptable computational time, making it a good alternative for thermal radiation calculations in simple geometries.
