Behavior of slip ratio during subcooled flow boiling in a vertical tube: A CFD approach

R. Prattipati et al.

Summary: In this study, slip ratio in flow boiling experiments was estimated using numerical simulations based on a wall boiling model. The computationally obtained void fraction values were verified against experimental data, showing variations in slip ratio along the length of the tube. A new correlation was proposed to relate slip ratio with thermodynamic quality, considering the effects of length and operating conditions.

Modelling and simulation of flow boiling with an Eulerian-Eulerian approach and integrated models for bubble dynamics and temperature-dependent heat partitioning

Hamed Setoodeh et al.

Summary: This research presents a time-averaged Eulerian-Eulerian multiphase approach for simulating boiling flows, with a mechanistic bubble dynamics model implemented in the framework to improve accuracy and reduce case dependency. The model, based on the balance of forces on a single bubble, considers various factors like evaporation, thermal diffusion, and geometry changes. The new modeling approach allows for analysis of bubble sliding impact on heat transfer and has been validated with experimental data covering a wide range of operating parameters.

CFD modeling of liquid entrainment through vertical T-junction of fourth stage automatic depressurization system (ADS-4)

Irfan Khan et al.

Summary: This study presents a CFD model specializing in the study of liquid entrainment phenomenon, which has been validated to reasonably predict the entrainment phenomenon. The research also investigates the effects of vertical to horizontal branch diameter ratio and gas mass flow rates on liquid entrainment, as well as liquid volume fraction distributions and velocity fields.
