A Cerebellum-Inspired Network Model and Learning Approaches for Solving Kinematic Tracking Control of Redundant Manipulators

Ning Tan et al.

Summary: This article presents a model-based cerebellum-inspired (MBCI) scheme and a model-free cerebellum-inspired (MFCI) scheme for tracking control of redundant manipulators. The MBCI scheme solves the inverse kinematics problem using a cerebellum model, transforming task space error into joint space error for training the cerebellum model. The MFCI scheme combines a cerebellum model and a multilayer perceptron (MLP), where MLP generates approximate joint angle commands and the cerebellum model fine-tunes the MLP controller to improve tracking accuracy.

Integrating optimal process and supplier selection in personalised product architecture design

Changbai Tan et al.

Summary: Personalized product design relies on an open product architecture that integrates personalized modules to create unique products, while coordinating decisions on product variety, module combinations, manufacturing processes, and supplier selection. The conventional sequential design process may lead to compromised performance or infeasible design solutions. Concurrent optimization approach integrates manufacturing process and supplier selection into personalized product architecture design, leading to higher profitability compared to sequential design strategies.

Reducing the Total Product Cost at the Product Design Stage

Marcin Relich et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a method for cost estimation and simulation of product design changes using business analytics. By utilizing artificial neural network-based models and relationships identified by computational intelligence, the total product cost can be reduced. The proposed method enables the selection of a more appropriate cost estimation technique, the identification of a set of possible product design changes, and provides a framework for decision support systems. It outperforms current methods for evaluating the potential of a new product.

Product-service system engineering characteristics design for life cycle cost based on constraint satisfaction problem and Bayesian network

Jian Wang et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a new PSS design method for evaluating and finding an optimal scheme for PSS-ECs design based on customer requirements and Bayesian network. The construction of a Bayesian network describing the uncertain relationships between PSS-ECs and LCC is the core of this research. The method is validated using an example of subway bogie and its maintenance service, and shows positive significance in consolidating engineering knowledge and improving design decisions.

Learning variable ordering heuristics for solving Constraint Satisfaction Problems

Wen Song et al.

Summary: This paper proposes a deep reinforcement learning based approach to automatically discover new variable ordering heuristics for a given class of CSP instances. Experimental results show that the learned policies outperform classical hand-crafted heuristics in small and medium-sized instances, and also effectively reduce the search tree size in larger and harder instances.

A cerebellar-based solution to the nondeterministic time delay problem in robotic control

Ignacio Abadia et al.

Summary: This study aims to bridge the inherent features of cerebellar motor control and current robotic challenges by implementing a cerebellar-like spiking neural network (SNN) controller that is adaptive, compliant, and robust to variable sensorimotor delays. By replicating the cerebellar mechanisms and allowing motor learning and adaptation, this controller addresses the incompatibility between HRI robots' characteristics and traditional control solutions, as well as the challenge of compliant control in the presence of variable sensorimotor delays.
