Transcriptome and biochemical analyses of rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) RTG-2 gonadal cells in response to BDE-47 stress indicates effects on cell proliferation

Zhongyuan Zhou et al.

Summary: In this study, we investigated the effects of BDE-47 on cell viability, morphology, cell cycle, and apoptosis. The results showed that BDE-47 significantly decreased cell viability and induced morphological alterations. Cell cycle arrest and apoptosis were also observed. Transcriptome analysis and protein analysis provided further evidence for the involvement of specific signaling pathways in regulating the cell cycle and apoptosis.

Sanguinarine attenuates hydrogen peroxide-induced toxicity in liver of Monopterus albus: Role of oxidative stress, inflammation and apoptosis

Yong Shi et al.

Summary: In aquatic animals, hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) can cause liver tissue toxicity, oxidative damage, inflammatory response, and apoptosis. This study found that Sanguinarine (SAN) can alleviate H2O2-induced liver injury in rice field eel by improving antioxidant capacity, alleviating inflammatory response, and inhibiting apoptosis. The effect of SAN supplementation at a dose of 750 μg/kg is better than 375 μg/kg.

MCLR induces dysregulation of calcium homeostasis and endoplasmic reticulum stress resulting in apoptosis in Sertoli cells

Sujuan Zhao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that MCLR induced an increase in Ca2+ concentration in TM4 cells, leading to activation of apoptotic pathways. The use of the Ca2+ chelator Bapta-AM partially reversed MCLR-induced apoptosis, confirming the involvement of calcium homeostasis disruption. Additionally, MCLR activated the ER apoptotic pathway by activating caspase-12.

Endoplasmic reticulum stress, cell death and tumor: Association between endoplasmic reticulum stress and the apoptosis pathway in tumors

Xiaojing Fu et al.

Summary: External and internal stimuli are often involved in tumorigenesis, and the impairment of endoplasmic reticulum function is an important factor in tumor development. Endoplasmic reticulum stress plays a critical role in tumorigenesis, and drug-induced ER stress can promote tumor cell apoptosis.

Molecular characterization, expression, and apoptosis regulation of siva1 in protogynous hermaphrodite fish ricefield eel (Monopterus albus)

Zhi He et al.

Summary: The study characterized the molecular function of Siva1 in ricefield eel through molecular characterization, phylogenetic analysis, and evaluation of mRNA expression in different developmental stages and under H2O2 and Z-VAD-FMK exposure in ovarian tissues. The results showed high conservation and specific motifs in ricefield eel Siva1, with differential expression levels in ovary tissues and during developmental stages. Additionally, significant upregulation of siva1 expression was observed in response to H2O2 and Z-VAD-FMK, with a positive correlation between siva1 and caspase3 expression, indicating the important role of Siva1 in apoptosis during gonadal development in ricefield eel.

Molecular characterization, expression, and H2O2 induction of p53 and mdm2 in the ricefield eel, Monopterus albus

Zhi He et al.

Summary: P53 and Mdm2 play important roles in preventing uncontrolled apoptosis in various cell types. In Monopterus albus, p53 and mdm2 were found to be mainly expressed in the ovary, with expression levels changing during gonadal development and natural sex change. The sequence similarity of Mdm2 in M. albus to Lates calcarifer was high, while the p53 sequences of Neoteleostei, including M. albus, were different from those of Euteleostei and other vertebrates.
