Upregulated genes in the resistant cultivar were mainly enriched in cellular processes, single-organism processes, metabolic processes, and response to stimulus, while downregulated genes were mainly enriched in the susceptible cultivar. Phenylpropanoid biosynthesis and phenylalanine metabolism are key metabolic pathways in cotton response to Fov, with lignin potentially playing a role in cotton resistance.

Production of antimicrobial metabolites against pathogenic bacteria and yeasts by Fusarium oxysporum in submerged culture processes

Summary: The antimicrobial activity of metabolites produced by Fusarium oxysporum PR-33 in submerged culture was evaluated, showing broad-spectrum antimicrobial action. The major compounds identified were fusarinolic acid and its isomer, dehydrofusaric acid, and fusaric acid, with fusaric acid responsible for the antimicrobial activity. The cytotoxicity of the extracts was also evaluated and showed potential as antimicrobial agents.
