Overexpression of cassava RSZ21b enhances drought tolerance in Arabidopsis

Yanhang Chen et al.

Summary: The study identified a cassava RSZ subfamily gene, MeRSZ21b, which is induced by drought and hypersensitive to abscisic acid (ABA) in Arabidopsis. Overexpression of MeRSZ21b in plants improved drought tolerance by modulating ABA-dependent signaling pathways. This research provides new insights into enhancing plant resistance to environmental stress through SR protein-coding genes.

Alternative Splicing Regulation of Glycine-Rich Proteins via Target of Rapamycin-Reactive Oxygen Species Pathway in Arabidopsis Seedlings Upon Glucose Stress

Chang Du et al.

Summary: In this study, the transcriptome changes in response to glucose stress in Arabidopsis seedlings were investigated using Oxford Nanopore sequencing technologies. The results showed that glucose stress affects alternative splicing (AS) of many genes, including the glycine-rich protein (GRP) family and arginine/serine-rich splicing factor 31 (RS31). The findings provide insights into the regulatory mechanism of AS in sugar signaling.

Dwarf and High Tillering1 represses rice tillering through mediating the splicing of D14 pre-mRNA

Tianzhen Liu et al.

Summary: Research has identified a rice mutant, dht1, which exhibits pleiotropic phenotypes similar to mutants defective in strigolactone (SL) signaling. The DHT1 protein plays a role in intron splicing and is crucial for the proper functioning of SL signaling in regulating plant development.

Dual roles of the serine/arginine-rich splicing factor SR45a in promoting and interacting with nuclear cap-binding complex to modulate the salt-stress response in Arabidopsis

Ying Li et al.

Summary: Alternative splicing (AS) plays a critical role in plant response to environmental stresses. SR45a, as a component of the spliceosome, interacts with CBP20 to mediate salt stress signaling pathways and regulate AS and mRNA maturation of salt-tolerance genes. Mutations in SR45a and CBP20 lead to different salt-stress phenotypes, indicating a regulatory complex for plant salt stress response.

Summary: Alternative RNA splicing is a crucial regulatory process for gene diversity, and recent studies suggest that miRNAs may modulate this process by altering the dosage of splicing factors. Dysregulation of miRNA pathways could disrupt transcript rearrangements in tissue development and disease.

Arabidopsis ACINUS is O-glycosylated and regulates transcription and alternative splicing of regulators of reproductive transitions

Yang Bi et al.

Summary: O-GlcNAc modification is important for metabolic regulation in cells. The study identifies AtACINUS as a protein in Arabidopsis that is modified by both O-GlcNAc and O-fucosylation, and is involved in regulating transcription, alternative splicing, and development. Knocking out AtACINUS and its paralog AtPININ causes severe growth defects, indicating their essential roles in plant development.

Yu Ling et al.

Summary: The article reviews AS regulation in response to heat stress in different plant species and proposes that AS regulation participates in heat priming establishment and heat memory maintenance in plants. It suggests that pre-mRNA splicing variation is an important regulator of plant heat stress responses.
