Deposition of bismuth sulfide and aluminum doped bismuth sulfide thin films for photovoltaic applications

Tanzeela Fazal et al.

Summary: Binary bismuth sulfide and ternary aluminum-doped bismuth sulfide thin films were prepared and thoroughly analyzed for their structural, morphological, optical, electrical, and transport properties. The doped films showed higher carrier density and amorphous phase compared to the non-doped films, with the optical band gaps ranging from 1.6 to 1.3 eV. The disorderliness in these newly designed materials was traced through the estimation of the change in the Urbach energy.

Adsorptive Removal of Methylene Blue from Aqueous Solutions Using Magnetic Fe3O4@C-dots: Removal and kinetic studies

Mahnaz Ghereghlou et al.

Summary: Fe3O4@C-dots prepared from Elaeagnus Angustifolia showed a significantly higher adsorption capacity for methylene blue compared to other reported results. The adsorption capacity of Fe3O4@C-dots increased with contact time, pH, and MB initial concentration. The adsorption mechanism involved electrostatic interactions, hydrogen bonding, and chemical binding. The kinetic studies showed that the adsorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetics, and the isotherm analysis indicated consistency with the Langmuir equations. The adsorption capacity of Fe3O4@C-dots remained stable after multiple regeneration cycles. This adsorbent has a high potential for clearing cationic dyes from wastewater.

Ji Won Heo et al.

Summary: Research on low-cost bio-adsorbents for the removal of harmful substances from effluents has gained significant attention. This study prepared three types of amino-silane-modified lignins and investigated their adsorption behavior towards cationic and anionic dyes. The results showed that the amino-silane reagents resulted in different molecular self-assembly structures on the lignin surface. The ASLs exhibited excellent adsorption capacities and selectivity based on the pH conditions.
