Proliferating Lymphatic Endothelial Cells as a Prognostic Marker in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Irisin Association with Ki-67, MCM3 and MT-I/II in Squamous Cell Carcinomas of the Larynx

Summary: This study investigated the expression of irisin in Laryngeal Squamous Cell Carcinoma (LSCC) and found that irisin expression levels were significantly increased in LSCC compared to other benign conditions. There was a positive correlation between irisin and proliferation markers, as well as clinicopathological factors. These findings suggest the potential role of irisin as a biomarker in the diagnostic process of LSCC.

Loss of E-Cadherin Expression Correlates With Ki-67 in Head and Neck Squamous Cell Carcinoma

Summary: This study evaluated the correlation between the rate of proliferation and immunohistochemical expression of E-cadherin in patients with head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC), and their predictive role. The results showed that high E-cadherin expression was associated with less differentiated tumors, while Ki-67 expression correlated with tumor grade. Additionally, low E-cadherin expression, increased Ki-67 proliferation rate, and advanced T2-T3 tumor stage were strongly correlated.

Summary: The global cancer burden in 2020 saw an estimated 19.3 million new cancer cases and almost 10.0 million cancer deaths. Female breast cancer surpassed lung cancer as the most commonly diagnosed cancer, while lung cancer remained the leading cause of cancer death. These trends are expected to rise in 2040, with transitioning countries experiencing a larger increase compared to transitioned countries due to demographic changes and risk factors associated with globalization and a growing economy. Efforts to improve cancer prevention measures and provision of cancer care in transitioning countries will be crucial for global cancer control.
