A quantum bound on the compactness

Roberto Casadio

Summary: A simple quantum description is presented for the gravitational collapse of a ball of dust, which excludes states with a width arbitrarily smaller than the gravitational radius of the matter source. This study supports the conclusion that black holes are macroscopic extended objects and briefly comments on the relevance to the ultraviolet self-completion of gravity and the connection with the corpuscular picture of black holes.

Infrared scaling for a graviton condensate

Sougato Bose et al.

Summary: The coupling between gravity and matter provides a hint for the infrared length scale in theories of gravity. By studying the relationship between gravitons and the number of particles, this length scale can be determined, which is also applicable in higher curvature theories of gravity.

A quantum state for the late Universe

Andrea Giusti et al.

Summary: The quantum description of a toy model universe with Schwarzschild-de Sitter geometry arising from the coherent state of a massless scalar field is considered. The study reveals clear hints that the reaction of the de Sitter background to matter sources induces modified Newtonian dynamics at galactic scales and different measured values for the present Hubble parameter.

Quantum Reissner-Nordstrom geometry: Singularity and Cauchy horizon

Roberto Casadio et al.

Summary: We propose a quantum description of electrically charged spherically symmetric black holes using coherent states of gravitons, which resolves the issue of both the central singularity and the Cauchy horizon.

de Sitter space as a BRST invariant coherent state of gravitons

Lasha Berezhiani et al.

Summary: The paper presents a construction of the de Sitter state in the form of a coherent state of gravitons, with a focus on BRST invariance. By introducing multiple copies of scalar matter coupled to gravity and taking a special double scaling limit, the construction becomes exact and allows for the calculation of collective phenomena.

Quantum Black Holes and (Re)Solution of the Singularity

Roberto Casadio

Summary: Classical general relativity predicts the occurrence of spacetime singularities under very general conditions. However, from the perspective of the complete quantum theory of matter and gravity, it is argued that this scenario cannot be physically realized since no proper quantum state may contain the infinite momentum modes required to resolve the singularity.

Effective metric outside bootstrapped Newtonian sources

Roberto Casadio et al.

Summary: The researchers determine the complete space-time metric based on the Newtonian potential produced by a static spherically symmetric source in the surrounding vacuum. This metric contains post-Newtonian parameters that can be used to constrain the underlying dynamical theory and quantum state of gravity. For experimental values of the post-Newtonian parameters, the reconstructed metric closely resembles the Schwarzschild solution, but with a larger size for the same mass.
