Theoretical study on Y-doped Na2ZrO3 as a high-capacity Na-rich cathode material based on anionic redox

Huimin Yin et al.

Summary: First-principles calculations based on density functional theory were used to study the performance of Na2ZrO3 and yttrium-doped Na2ZrO3 as cathode materials for sodium-ion batteries. The calculations revealed the stability of the desodiated structures, desodiation energy, redox mechanism, and the diffusion of Na. Yttrium doping improved the diffusion of Na ions, providing theoretical support for designing Na-rich layered oxides in the future.

Study on strategy construction for dismantling and radioactive waste management at Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station

Akira Asahara et al.

Summary: This study evaluates the safety and environmental detriment (SED) score of radioactive materials in the phase-three decommissioning of Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Station, identifying the importance of treating and conditioning fuel debris and core components for reducing plant-base SED score. It suggests considering the physical form of fuel debris in work plans to minimize SED score during the active decommissioning process.

Parabolic oxidation kinetics of a plutonium alloy at room temperature

Scott B. Donald et al.

Summary: Auger electron spectroscopy (AES) was used to characterize the oxide scale on a Ga-plutonium metal alloy, revealing its thickness and chemistry. The parabolic kinetics of the Pu-Ga alloy were determined as a function of relative humidity and oxygen partial pressure, showing that the reaction rate was independent of oxygen pressure and had a power-law relationship with humidity.

First-Principle Study of Co-Adsorption Behavior of H2O and O2 on δ-Pu (100) Surface

Guoliang Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that the co-adsorption behavior of O-2 and H2O on the plutonium surface can mutually promote each other, resulting in higher strength and stability than single adsorption. In the co-adsorption configuration, O atoms preferentially interact with Pu atoms in the surface layer, while H atoms mainly form O-H bonds with O atoms.
