Investigation on the flammability limit and limiting oxygen concentration of N2-diluted H2/CO/air mixtures at high temperature and pressure

Rui Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the combustion characteristics and reaction mechanism of H2/CO mixtures under high temperature and pressure conditions. It was found that initial temperature and pressure significantly affected the flammability limit and limiting oxygen concentration, increasing the risk of combustion. Kinetic simulations revealed a synergistic oxidation effect between CO and H2, with oxygen competition leading to decreased CO conversion rates as H2 concentration increased.

The effect of CO2 on the lower flammability limit of C3H8 in O2/CO2 atmosphere at high temperature and pressure

Hao Wei et al.

Summary: A prediction model was used to study the lower flammability limit of C3H8 in O-2/CO2 atmosphere, confirming its dependence on temperature, pressure, and CO2 concentration. Results suggest a linear decrease in the lower flammability limit with increasing preheating temperatures, a logarithmic increase with pressure, and a slight increase with higher CO2 concentration.

Effect of ignition, initial pressure and temperature on the lower flammability limit of hydrogen/air mixture

Kai Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, the effect of ignition, initial pressure, and temperature on the lower flammability limit (LFL) of hydrogen/air mixture was investigated through experimental and numerical methods. The results showed that increasing ignition energy decreased the LFL of hydrogen. The use of high voltage direct current power supply led to faster flame propagation compared to 15 kV high voltage transformer ignition. Increasing initial pressure raised the LFL of hydrogen, and the time to reach peak deflagration overpressure increased with the use of HVDC. On the other hand, increasing initial temperature decreased the LFL of hydrogen. The change in LFL with different ignition methods was analyzed, and the generation of OH radicals was found to contribute to the increase in LFL with increasing initial pressure.

Experimental and numerical study of the influence of initial temperature on explosion limits and explosion process of syngas-air mixtures

Fengyuan Jiao et al.

Summary: The effect of initial temperature on the explosion limits and process of syngas-air mixtures was studied using experimental and numerical methods. The results showed that higher initial temperatures decreased the lower explosion limit and increased the upper explosion limit of syngas. Both experimental and numerical results demonstrated an accelerated flame propagation speed with increasing initial temperature. The simulation also provided additional multidimensional transient explosion parameters.

Near flammability limits behavior of methane-air mixtures with influence of flammable gases and nitrogen: An experimental and numerical research

Tao Wang et al.

Summary: The study investigated the influence of mixed flammable gases on the flammability limit of methane, revealing that adding gas fuel can lower the flammability limit and increase explosion risk. Thermodynamic and chemical kinetic analyses showed that as the volume fraction of mixed gas increased, peak flame temperature and flammability exponent also gradually increased or decreased.
