Investigation of photo-electrochemical response of iron oxide/mixed-phase titanium oxide heterojunction toward possible solar energy conversion

Mehdi Khosravi et al.

Summary: Photocatalysts are important for green fuel production. The study compared the photo-electrochemical performance and behavior of mixed-phase titanium oxide and iron oxide heterojunction with titanium oxide nanotubes and iron oxide heterojunction. Results showed that factors such as stabilization potential and dissolved oxygen did not significantly affect the photo-electrochemical properties of the electrodes.

Two-step chemical bath deposition enhanced mobility of PbS thin films

U. Chalapathi et al.

Summary: A two-step chemical bath deposition method is developed to enhance the grain growth and hole mobility of PbS thin films. Deposition at low temperature in the first step acts as a seed layer for the growth of large-grained PbS in the second step, leading to improved grain size and hole mobility. The two-step CBD method is useful for the growth of PbS for optoelectronic devices applications.

Structural changes of a NiFe-based metal-organic framework during the oxygen-evolution reaction under alkaline conditions

Mahya Salmanion et al.

Summary: Metal-organic frameworks are commonly used as catalysts for water splitting, but their stability during water-oxidizing reactions is challenging. Experimental results show that the NiFe MOF converts to NiFe oxide with significant defects and irregular arrangement of ions during oxygen-evolution reaction (OER), suggesting its potential as a catalyst for OER.

J. Arumugam et al.

Summary: This study successfully prepared high-crystalline Bi2S3 nanowires using an environmentally friendly dip-coating method, and manufactured them into Bi2S3 nanowire / ITO photodiodes. The experimental results showed that the prepared photodiode exhibited good photo-response performance and fast response time.

The co-decorated TiO2 nanorod array photoanodes by CdS/CdSe to promote photoelectrochemical water splitting

Shangrong Chen et al.

Summary: The cascade structure of TiO2/CdS/CdSe semiconductor heterojunction, synthesized by a three-step hydrothermal growth technique, enhances photo-electrochemical performances by enlarging the absorption range of solar spectra, improving the properties of photogenerated charge carriers, and reducing interface resistance. The increase in hydrothermal growth time of CdSe leads to greater photoelectrochemical water splitting performances. The underlying physics mechanisms are discussed based on the formation of a type-II energy band alignment structure.
