Multiple roles of wheat calmodulin genes during stress treatment and TaCAM2-D as a positive regulator in response to drought and salt tolerance

Genome-wide identification and expression analysis of calmodulin and calmodulin-like genes in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Summary: Calmodulin (CaM) and calmodulin-like (CML) genes play important roles in plant growth and stress response. In wheat, 18 TaCaM and 230 TaCML genes were identified, classified into 7 subfamilies. These genes are located on all 21 chromosomes, with most gene clusters containing 3 homoeologous genes. TaCaM/TaCML genes show tissue-specific expression patterns, with some genes being up-regulated by abiotic stresses in roots or shoots.
