European and US Real-World Treatment Patterns in Patients with Epidermal Growth Factor Receptor Mutation-Positive Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: A Retrospective Medical Record Review

Riyaz Shah et al.

Summary: The study found that approximately 73% of patients with EGFR mutation-positive advanced/metastatic non-small cell lung cancer in Europe and the USA experience disease progression after receiving first- or second-generation EGFR-TKI treatment. Despite 74% of patients undergoing T790M testing, only half tested positive, with most of them receiving osimertinib treatment.

Summary: Every year, the American Cancer Society projects the numbers of new cancer cases and deaths in the United States, with the latest data showing a significant decline in lung cancer mortality, while prostate cancer mortality has plateaued and breast and colorectal cancer mortality have slowed. Improvements in treatment have accelerated progress against lung cancer, leading to a record drop in overall cancer mortality.

WD40 repeat 43 mediates cell survival, proliferation, migration and invasion via vimentin in colorectal cancer

Zijian Li et al.

Summary: This study investigated the role of WDR43 in colorectal cancer, showing that its high expression is associated with increased tumorigenesis. Knockdown of WDR43 led to decreased proliferation, migration, invasion, and increased apoptosis in CRC cells. Additionally, the study found that WDR43 knockdown inhibited VIM expression and overexpression of VIM partially reversed the effects of WDR43.

Epigenetic Alterations and Mechanisms That Drive Resistance to Targeted Cancer Therapies

Narendra Wajapeyee et al.

Summary: Cancer cells harbor multiple genetic and epigenetic alterations, but targeted therapy can still effectively treat various types of cancer. Resistance often emerges, posing a major clinical hurdle. Mechanisms for resistance to targeted therapy have been identified through alterations to the transcriptome and chromatin regulatory proteins.
