Effects of N-acetyl cysteine on mitochondrial ROS, mitochondrial dynamics, and inflammation on lipopolysaccharide-treated human apical papilla cells

Nutcha Jariyamana et al.

Summary: This study found that NAC can promote proliferation and reduce inflammation in LPS-treated APCs, with a 10-minute NAC treatment sufficient to decrease inflammation and maintain mitochondrial dynamics. Therefore, NAC may be considered as a potential adjunctive irrigation solution in REPs.

Alterations of mitochondrial dynamics, inflammation and mineralization potential of lipopolysaccharide-induced human dental pulp cells after exposure to N-acetyl cysteine, Biodentine or ProRoot MTA

K. Weekate et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that NAC had a significant impact on the survival rate of LPS-induced hDPCs, particularly when combined with Biodentine or MTA. NAC showed potential in enhancing mineralization and suppressing inflammatory cytokine expression.

Donepezil attenuated cardiac ischemia/reperfusion injury through balancing mitochondrial dynamics, mitophagy, and autophagy

Thawatchai Khuanjing et al.

Summary: Research indicates that administration of donepezil in cardiac ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury can reduce infarct size, arrhythmia, and improve heart function through regulating cardiac mitochondrial dynamics, decreasing apoptosis, and other pathways.

NUTM2A-AS1 silencing alleviates LPS-induced apoptosis and inflammation in dental pulp cells through targeting let-7c-5p/HMGB1 axis

Xuechun Wang et al.

Summary: The study found that NUTM2A-AS1 was up-regulated in LPS-stimulated human dental pulp cells (HDPCs), leading to cell damage. Silencing NUTM2A-AS1 attenuated LPS-induced injury through targeting the let-7c5p/HMGB1 axis.

Schisandrin Restores the Amyloid β-Induced Impairments on Mitochondrial Function, Energy Metabolism, Biogenesis, and Dynamics in Rat Primary Hippocampal Neurons

Zhongyuan Piao et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Schisandrin significantly relieved the Aβ(1-42) oligomer-induced loss of mitochondrial membrane potential and impaired cytochrome c oxidase activity, and restricted the opening of mitochondrial permeability transition pore and release of cytochrome c. Additionally, alterations in cell viability, ATP production, citrate synthase activity, and the expressions of glycolysis-related enzymes showed relief of defective energy metabolism in Aβ-treated neurons after Schisandrin treatment. Furthermore, elevated expression of peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator along with promoted mitochondrial mass, and restoration of the imbalance in fusion and fission cycle were found in Schisandrin-treated cells.
