JASPAR 2022: the 9th release of the open-access database of transcription factor binding profiles

Jaime A. Castro-Mondragon et al.

Summary: JASPAR is an open-access database containing manually curated, non-redundant transcription factor binding profiles across six taxonomic groups. The latest release introduces new profiles for plants, vertebrates, urochordates, and insects, as well as new tools for TFBS enrichment analysis and data access. The database can be accessed through various platforms, including the JASPAR website, RESTful API, R/Bioconductor data package, and a new Python package pyJASPAR.

Characterization and functional analysis of Cshsp19.0 encoding a small heat shock protein in Chilo suppressalis (Walker)

Chuan-Lei Dong et al.

Summary: The study identified Cshsp19.0 as a small heat shock protein that plays a significant role in insect development and stress tolerance. Expression of Cshsp19.0 in C. suppressalis is influenced by developmental stage, heat and cold stress, and shows a difference between male and female pupae in response to humidity. Silencing of Cshsp19.0 results in reduced larval survival, confirming its importance in environmental stress tolerance and physiological activities in C. suppressalis.

Transcriptional regulation of small heat shock protein genes by heat shock factor 1 (HSF1) in Liriomyza trifolii under heat stress

Ya-Wen Chang et al.

Summary: This study revealed the expression patterns of HSF1 and sHSPs in L. trifolii under heat stress conditions, showing that the expression levels of these proteins changed under 40 degrees Celsius heat stress, and the knockdown of HSF1 through RNA interference affected the survival rate and expression of heat shock proteins in L. trifolii.

Genome-Wide Role of HSF1 in Transcriptional Regulation of Desiccation Tolerance in the Anhydrobiotic Cell Line, Pv11

Shoko Tokumoto et al.

Summary: HSF1 exerts a genome-wide effect on gene regulation in Pv11 cells, inducing anhydrobiosis-related genes while repressing genes involved in basal cellular processes. This promotes an extreme hypometabolism state in the cell, crucial for the acquisition of desiccation tolerance.
