Application of a calcined animal bone to synthesis of graphitic carbon nitride composite

Takuya Ehiro

Summary: In this study, composites of g-C3N4 and CAB were synthesized by calcining a mixture of urea and CAB at different temperatures. The results showed that the calcination temperature influenced the yield, crystallinity, and band gap of g-C3N4. In addition, the presence of CAB promoted the thermal condensation of urea but also decreased the yield of g-C3N4.

Constructing S-scheme 2D/0D g-C3N4/TiO2 NPs/MPs heterojunction with 2D-Ti3AlC2 MAX cocatalyst for photocatalytic CO2 reduction to CO/CH4 in fixed-bed and monolith photoreactors

Muhammad Tahir et al.

Summary: In this study, an exfoliated 2D MAX Ti3AlC2 conductive cocatalyst anchored with g-C3N4/TiO2 was investigated for CO2 photoreduction. The results showed that the combination of TiO2 NPs and the 2D Ti3AlC2 MAX structure achieved higher CH4 production. The composite material operated under a step-scheme photocatalytic mechanism, suppressing the recombination of useful electron and holes and providing a higher reduction potential for efficient CO2 conversion. The performance of the composite catalyst was further studied in a fixed-bed and monolith photoreactor, demonstrating increased CO production with monolithic support but reduced CH4 production.

Template-Free Synthesis of One-Dimensional g-C3N4 Chain Nanostructures for Efficient Photocatalytic Hydrogen Evolution

Mingyi Zhang et al.

Summary: In this study, one-dimensional chain-like g-C3N4 was successfully synthesized by heat-induced polymerization of melamine saturated in ethylene glycol. The photocatalytic hydrogen production rate of the prepared g-C3N4 chain was enhanced about 3 times compared to bulk g-C3N4, attributed to its advantages in porosity and nanostructure.
