Toward Opto-Structural Correlation to Investigate Luminescence Thermometry in an Organometallic Eu(II) Complex

Roberto M. Diaz-Rodriguez et al.

Summary: This paper reports the synthesis and photoluminescence investigation of a pentamethylcyclopentadienyl-europium(II) tetrahydroborate bis(tetrahydrofuran) dimer, the first example of an organometallic, discrete molecular Eu-II band-shift luminescence thermometer. Complex 1 exhibits the highest absolute sensitivity at 320 K, indicating the significant potential of molecular Eu-II compounds in luminescence thermometry.

A series of bis(2-phenethyl)dithiophosphinate-based Ln(III) complexes: Synthesis, magnetic and photoluminescent properties

Yuliya A. Bryleva et al.

Summary: A series of lanthanide(III) complexes based on bis(2-phenethyl)dithiophosphinate have been designed and synthesized, with investigations into their magnetic properties and luminescent behaviors. Some of the complexes exhibit paramagnetic properties and nonlinear field dependencies of magnetization.

Structural and Spectroscopic Comparison of Soft-Se vs. Hard-O Donor Bonding in Trivalent Americium/Neodymium Molecules

Conrad A. P. Goodwin et al.

Summary: This study compared two Am complexes with Nd complexes, analyzing covalent contributions and comparing them to U/La and Pu/Ce analogues. By using ab initio calculations based on UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy and single-crystal X-ray structures, differences in f orbital involvement between Am-Se and Nd-Se bonds were observed.

[AnI3(THF)4] (An = Np, Pu) Preparation Bypassing An0 Metal Precursors: Access to Np3+/Pu3+ Nonaqueous and Organometallic Complexes

Conrad A. P. Goodwin et al.

Summary: Direct comparison of homologous molecules allows the elucidation of changes in reactivity patterns, redox processes, and bonding properties across a series of elements. Synthetic routes for Np and Pu research have been hindered, but the development of new methods using widely available precursors can potentially transform research into actinide periodicity. The synthesis of An-iodide molecules and the characterization of Np3+-Se bonds represent significant advancements in the field.

Charge-transfer excited states of π- and 4f-orbitals for development of luminescent Eu(iii) complexes

Yuichi Kitagawa et al.

Summary: Transition metal complexes and lanthanide complexes can achieve photofunctional properties through charge transfer excited states, with a relatively new research focus on lanthanide complexes. Investigating charge transfer excited states can contribute to the development of next-generation photofunctional metal complexes.
