First-principles study of the adsorption behavior of Octyl-β-D-xyloside surfactant on pristine Al12N12 and B12N12 nanocages

Hossein Khalafi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the potential application of Al12N12 and B12N12 nanocages as an electronic sensor for detecting octyl-beta-D-xyloside surfactant in the gas phase using density functional theory calculations. Theoretical investigation of emodin conjugated doped B12N12 nanocage by means of DFT, QTAIM and PCM analysis

Siraj Ud Daula Shamim et al.

Summary: Surface-modified nanomaterials, such as AlB11N12 and GaB11N12 nanocages, show higher sensitivity and reactivity towards the drug emodin compared to unmodified B12N12 nanocages. The adsorption process significantly affects the energy levels of the drug, leading to enhanced electrical conductivity and potential application as electronic drug sensors. QTAIM and RDG analysis further indicate strong hydrogen-bonded interactions between the drug and the modified nanocages.

An Ab-initio Study of the C18 nanocluster for Hazardous Gas Sensor Application

Shardul Vadalkar et al.

Summary: In this study, the adsorption performance of CO, NO, and NH3 gases on C-18 nanocluster was investigated using density functional theory (DFT) calculation. It was found that CO and NO molecules chemisorbed onto C-18, while NH3 molecule physisorbed. The decrease in HOMO-LUMO gap after adsorption resulted in increased conductivity, indicating the potential of C-18 nanocluster as a sensor. The fast recovery time of C-18 nanocluster for CO and NO adsorption makes it a portable and low-cost gas sensor option.

Evaluate the potential utilization of B24N24 fullerene in the recognition of COS, H2S, SO2, and CS2 gases (environmental pollution)

Song Ding et al.

Summary: In this study, density functional theory calculations were used to investigate the potential usage of B24N24 fullerene in detecting COS, H2S, CS2, and SO2 gases. The results suggest that B24N24 fullerene can serve as an electronic sensor for recognizing SO2 and CS2, with the ability to selectively operate between the two gases by varying electrical conductivity. Additionally, B24N24 fullerene exhibits a short recovery time for desorbing CS2 and SO2 gases, making it suitable for working in a wet environment.

Summary: A highly sensitive and selective carbon monoxide sensor has been developed using a LaFe0.8Co0.2O3 perovskite thin-film sensing element. Proper utilization of perovskite surface's catalytic properties and microstructural control in a thin film sensor enabled selective CO sensing. High selectivity to CO was achieved due to low metal-oxygen binding energy, favorable electronic configuration of transition metal cations, and perovskite surface composition.

Tanushree Sutradhar et al.

Summary: The study investigates the influence of donor-acceptor (D-A) groups on the nonlinear optical (NLO) properties of B12N12 functionalized nanoclusters. The results show that the functionalization of D-A groups significantly narrows the HOMO-LUMO gaps and leads to a large first hyperpolarizability. Specifically, the incorporation of phenyl ring D-A groups amplifies the NLO response through charge transfer from the donor to the acceptor moiety.
