Influence of the ancillary ligands on the luminescence of platinum(II) complexes with a triazole-based tridentate C∨N∨N luminophore

Marian Hebenbrock et al.

Summary: The effects of different ancillary ligands and counterions on the photophysical properties of platinum(II) complexes were investigated. It was found that changing the fourth ligand in the platinum(II) complexes resulted in varying lifetimes and quantum yields. The study also revealed that the emission of the complexes is mainly influenced by the tridentate luminophore, with minimal contribution from the ancillary ligand.

Mechanical Modulation of the Solid-State Luminescence of Tricarbonyl Rhenium(I) Complexes through the Interplay between Two Triplet Excited States

Jan Patrick Calupitan et al.

Summary: The study presents the mechanoresponsive luminescence (MRL) activity of two Re-I complexes with solid-state luminescence enhancement (SLE). Quantum chemical calculations reveal the existence of two low-lying triplet excited states, affecting the emission properties with intraligand and metal-to-ligand charge-transfer character. The transition between these states is promoted by rotation around specific bonds, influencing the emitted wavelength of photoluminescence.

Ligand-controlled and nanoconfinement-boosted luminescence employing Pt(ii) and Pd(ii) complexes: from color-tunable aggregation-enhanced dual emitters towards self-referenced oxygen reporters

Ivan Maisuls et al.

Summary: This work presents the synthesis, structural, and photophysical characteristics of novel Pd(II) and Pt(II) complexes with high photoluminescence quantum yields and long excited state lifetimes. DFT calculations were used to interpret the results, showing the impact of incorporating fluorine atoms into the ligands and the achievement of room-temperature phosphorescence through a supramolecular approach. Encapsulation of the complexes in nanoparticles enables concentration-controlled aggregation-enhanced dual emission, supporting enhanced photoluminescence quantum yields up to 80% and extended excited state lifetimes exceeding 100 μs.
