The crystal structures of niobium pnictide halides Nb4PnX11 (Pn = N, P; X = Cl, Br, I) have been reported, and their electronic and magnetic properties have been analyzed. The individual pnictide-capped butterfly cluster cores [Nb4P] in the structure are interconnected into two-dimensional layers.
