Active gelatin/cress seed gum-based films reinforced with chitosan nanoparticles encapsulating pomegranate peel extract: Preparation and characterization

Summary: The aim of this study was to evaluate the effect of chitosan nanoparticles (CSNPs) incorporating pomegranate peel extract on properties of composite gelatin/cress seed gum films. The addition of CSNPs improved the moisture barrier properties and mechanical properties of the films, as well as increased light transmittance. The films exhibited increased surface roughness and enhanced thermal stability, but had no significant antimicrobial properties.

MMT demonstrated the best performance as it not only improved the mechanical properties of the films but also controlled the release rate and activation energy.

Summary: A series of coaxial nanofiber membranes combining antioxidant tea polyphenols in the core and antibacterial e-poly (L-lysine) in the shell layer were successfully fabricated by coaxial electrospinning. The prepared nanofibers exhibited fast antibacterial release and sustained antioxidant release, showing promise as potential wound dressing materials with good cytocompatibility.

An investigation of factors affecting the electrospinning of poly (vinyl alcohol)/kefiran composite nanofibers

Summary: This study investigated parameters affecting the electrospinning of PVA/kefiran composite nanofibers. The optimal condition for nanofiber fabrication was found to be 18 kV, 200 mm, and 1 mL/h, producing uniform nanofibers without knots or adhesion. Concentration was identified as the most effective parameter influencing the diameter of nanofibers, and phase separation did not occur between the two polymers according to TEM images.
