Synthesis of a novel P-N flame retardant for preparing flame retardant and durable cotton fabric

Jinfeng Li et al.

Summary: A novel flame retardant containing high amounts of P and N elements was designed and grafted onto cotton fabric via P-O-C covalent bonds, showing improved flame retardancy and durability. The treated cotton exhibited lower peak heat release rate, total heat release, and initial decomposition temperatures, as well as increased carbon residue during combustion, indicating the formation of an expanded char layer. Various spectroscopic techniques confirmed the flame retardant mechanism, and the mechanical properties of the treated cotton remained suitable for use after treatment.

Development of functional foods using psyllium husk and wheat bran fractions: Phytic acid contents

Sharifa Alkandari et al.

Summary: This study investigated the impact of adding wheat mill fractions and psyllium on the phosphorus content of bread. The results showed that adding CB, FB, and WGF significantly increased the level of phytic phosphorus in bread, while no significant change was observed with psyllium addition.
