Spatial Confinement Strategy for Micelle-Size-Mediated Modulation of Mesopores in Hierarchical Porous Carbon Nanosheets with an Efficient Capacitive Response

Yang Qin et al.

Summary: This study presents a strategy for the improvement of commercial supercapacitors by synthesizing mesopore-adjustable hierarchically porous carbon nanosheets. The results show that excessive improvement in surface area observed in gaseous atmospheres has little effect on the final performance due to blocked pore alleys. The fabricated carbon nanosheets with adjustable mesopores exhibit superior electrochemical performance compared to carbon-based supercapacitors with aqueous electrolytes in recent literature.

Bamboo-based hierarchical porous carbon for high-performance supercapacitors: the role of different components

Guofeng Qiu et al.

Summary: This study systematically investigated the hierarchical porous structure of bamboo shavings hierarchical porous carbon (BPC) and the role of cellulose, hemicellulose, and lignin in influencing the pore structure and electrochemical properties of BPC. An efficient three-component separation method of bamboo shavings was proposed. The findings showed that cellulose and hemicellulose mainly provide microporous structure, while lignin provides both mesopores and micropores. The cellulose-derived BPC demonstrated superior cycling stability, and the lignin-derived BPC exhibited the highest specific capacitance and rate performance.

MnO2 modified perovskite oxide SrCo0.875Nb0.125O3 as supercapacitor electrode material

Na Lei et al.

Summary: Cobalt-based perovskite SrCo0.875Nb0.125O3 is a promising electrode material for supercapacitors. However, the particle form of SrCo0.875Nb0.125O3 is not favorable for electrochemical behavior. By modifying the surface with MnO2, the specific surface area of SrCo0.875Nb0.125O3 electrode is significantly increased and grain agglomeration is inhibited, leading to optimized electrochemical performance.
