Reference Correlation for the Viscosity of Propane-1,2-diol (Propylene Glycol) from the Triple Point to 452 K and up to 245 MPa

Danai Velliadou et al.

Summary: A new correlation for the viscosity of propylene glycol is presented in this study, which is based on critically evaluated experimental data. The correlation is designed to be used with an existing equation of state and is applicable in the temperature range of 243 K to 452 K and pressures up to 245 MPa. The estimated uncertainty is 4.5% at the 95% confidence level, except in the dilute-gas region where no measurements are available for comparison. Care should be taken when extrapolating the correlation outside the validated range.

Modelling solubility in semi-crystalline polymers: a critical comparative review

Omar Atiq et al.

Summary: This study provides an overview and comparative discussion of existing models for predicting the solubility of gases and vapors in semi-crystalline polymers. The presence of impermeable crystalline domains is found to reduce the sorption capacity of the amorphous network. Three different modeling categories are distinguished, and their theoretical foundations and relative results are presented and discussed. Prospective work guidelines for improving modeling strategies are also provided.

Molecular Dynamics Simulation of the n-Octacosane-Water Mixture Confined in Graphene Mesopores: Comparison of Atomistic and Coarse-Grained Calculations and the Effect of Catalyst Nanoparticle

Konstantinos D. Papavasileiou et al.

Summary: The study investigated the behavior of n-octacosane-water mixtures inside graphene and graphene oxide mesopores under low-temperature Fischer-Tropsch synthesis conditions through atomistic and coarse-grained molecular dynamics simulations. Both simulation methods showed phase separation of the mixture with water and n-octacosane occupying different locations, while the presence of long-chain alcohols affected the mobility of water. The study also demonstrated the use of coarse-grained molecular dynamics with MARTINI force field to study confined mixtures relevant to FTS reactions in the presence of supported catalyst nanoparticles.
