Metal-free oxidative synthesis of benzimidazole compounds by dehydrogenative coupling of diamines and alcohols

Jiaming Hu et al.

Summary: A metal-free synthesis method for benzimidazole compounds is reported. NHPI is used as a nonmetallic catalyst, combined with molecular oxygen or air as the oxidant, for the synthesis of N-heterocycles. Flow microreactors under optimized conditions improve the reaction efficiency.

Catalytic alcohol oxidation using cationic Schiff base manganeseIII complexes with flexible diamino bridge

Abdollah Neshat et al.

Summary: Four Schiff base manganese(III) complexes with derivatives of [(R,R)-N,N'-bis(salicy1idene)-1,2-cyclohexanediaminato)] were synthesized and characterized, showing good catalytic activity in oxidation reactions. Among them, Mn-4 complex was the most stable and selected for the oxidation of various alcohols, demonstrating promising potential for practical applications.

Mechanism and kinetics of the aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde catalyzed by cobalt porphyrin in a membrane microchannel reactor

Qi Han et al.

Summary: In a membrane microchannel reactor, the selective aerobic oxidation of benzyl alcohol to benzaldehyde catalyzed by cobalt porphyrin achieved high efficiency, with a conversion and benzaldehyde selectivity of 82% and 98% in 6.5 min. Kinetic studies revealed that the oxidation follows Michaelis-Menten kinetics, with a proposed mathematic kinetic model that fits well with experimental data and can predict reaction processes at various benzyl alcohol concentrations, aiding in process optimization and reactor design.

Hanrong Li et al.

Summary: This study developed a continuous process to synthesize N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazole sulfenamide (CBS) using microfluidics, achieving a high yield of 87% with a shortened reaction time of 200 seconds. A simplified kinetic model was established based on eliminating mass transfer resistance.

Mass transfer and reaction characteristics of homogeneously catalyzed aerobic oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural in slug flow microreactors

Arne Hommes et al.

Summary: The oxidation of 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) using Co/Mn/Br as the catalyst in a polytetrafluoroethylene capillary microreactor under gas-liquid slug flow with air or pure oxygen showed high conversion rates and selectivity for the desired products. Operating under wetted slug flows and elevated oxygen pressures allowed for improved mass transfer and elimination of oxygen depletion in the microreactor, leading to enhanced kinetics and efficiency. The use of pure oxygen at 5 bar resulted in significantly higher total selectivity towards the desired products, surpassing that obtained in traditional batch reactors.

Selective Oxidation of Benzylic sp3 C-H Bonds using Molecular Oxygen in a Continuous-Flow Microreactor

Lei Yun et al.

Summary: Selective aerobic oxidation of benzylic sp(3) C-H bonds to generate ketones was achieved under continuous-flow conditions with high efficiency and shortened reaction time. Optimization of flow microreactors enabled 466-fold improvement in reaction efficiency, with high catalyst and solvent recycling rates. The process demonstrated high product selectivity, functional group tolerance, and scalability for drug modification.
