Quantitative Myocardial Perfusion Predicts Outcomes in Patients With Prior Surgical Revascularization

Andreas Seraphim et al.

Summary: In this study, the researchers evaluated whether global stress myocardial blood flow (MBF) and perfusion reserve (MPR) derived from perfusion mapping cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) independently predict adverse outcomes in patients with previous coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) surgery. The results showed that both stress MBF and MPR independently predicted adverse outcomes, regardless of the presence of regional ischemia or the extent of previous infarction.

Summary: This study estimated the cost-effectiveness of different diagnostic strategies for identifying significant CAD in patients with chest pain in Australia. The most cost-effective approach was found to be using stress CMR if the exercise stress test was inconclusive or positive.

Summary: This guideline provides recommendations and algorithms for clinicians to assess and diagnose chest pain in adult patients, based on contemporary evidence of risk stratification and diagnostic workup. Cost-value considerations in diagnostic testing have been incorporated, and shared decision-making with patients is recommended.
