Mobile health solutions for atrial fibrillation detection and management: a systematic review

Astrid N. L. Hermans et al.

Summary: This systematic review aimed to evaluate the use of mobile Health (mHealth) solutions in atrial fibrillation (AF) detection and management. The findings suggest that the diagnostic accuracy of mHealth solutions varies based on the type of devices and technologies used, as well as the application settings and study population. However, several barriers to widespread mHealth adoption in healthcare systems still need to be addressed.

Implementation of an on-demand app-based heart rate and rhythm monitoring infrastructure for the management of atrial fibrillation through teleconsultation: TeleCheck-AF

Nikki A. H. A. Pluymaekers et al.

Summary: A TeleCheck-AF approach was developed during the COVID-19 pandemic to support AF management through teleconsultations. It includes structured teleconsultations, app-based monitoring infrastructure, and comprehensive AF management, aiming to ensure continuity of care and support integrated care. This approach is currently being implemented in various European centers to address the challenges posed by COVID-19.

Long-term intermittent versus short continuous heart rhythm monitoring for the detection of atrial fibrillation recurrences after catheter ablation

Astrid N. L. Hermans et al.

Summary: This study compared the efficacy and usability of long-term intermittent vs short continuous heart rhythm monitoring for the detection of AF recurrences after AF ablation, finding that long-term intermittent monitoring by ACK was more effective and had higher patient usability. ACK showed high accuracy in detecting AF.

The European TeleCheck-AF project on remote app-based management of atrial fibrillation during the COVID-19 pandemic: centre and patient experiences

Monika Gawalko et al.

Summary: The TeleCheck-AF project aimed to maintain care delivery for AF patients during COVID-19 through teleconsultations and heart rate monitoring. Most participating centres were academic with AF outpatient clinics. The inclusion rate was highest during lockdown and decreased after easing restrictions.
