Summary: The Holocene morpho-stratigraphic evolution of a compound submarine deltaic system linked with the Antas and Almanzora Rivers has been reconstructed from the integrated analysis of geomorphology, seismo-stratigraphy and sedimentology. The main factors driving the evolution of this system are the interplay between paleo-topography and riverine and marine processes, as well as sea level changes during the Holocene. The complex interaction between sedimentary gravity flows, storm-waves, shelf currents, fluid seepage and retrogressive slope failures has also contributed to the present-day morphological features.

Sediment fill of Baffin Island fjords: Architecture and rates

Summary: This review quantitatively and qualitatively describes 10 representative Baffin Island fjords, focusing on the role of glaciation in sediment delivery. By comparing observations and modeling results, differences in sediment thickness, sedimentation rates, and sediment loads in different periods are revealed. The study finds that fjords in the central and northern parts of Baffin Island are more influenced by the Laurentide Ice Sheet and have larger sediment deposits compared to fjords in the southern part. The existence of the Broughton Trough results in sediment loss in fjords associated with the Penny Ice Cap. The glacial sediment characteristics of Sunneshine are influenced by local maritime conditions and alpine glaciers.

Future research should focus on detailed studies of each delta to unravel changes related to land-use, vegetation, and subsidence, as well as the interpretation of wetlands in these ratios.
