Three Natural Andesitic to Rhyolitic Glasses (OJY-1, OH-1, OA-1) as Reference Materials for In Situ Microanalysis

Shitou Wu et al.

Summary: This study characterized three natural geological glasses as reference materials for in situ microanalysis of major and trace elements, and Pb isotope ratios. The glasses were found to be homogeneous with respect to most elements and Pb isotope ratios. They can serve as reference materials for microanalytical techniques such as electron probe microanalysis, mu-XRF, LA-ICP-MS and SIMS.

Mineralization of the Shangjiazhuang Mo deposit in the Jiaodong peninsula, China: Constraints from S-H-O isotopes and fluid inclusions

Jie Li et al.

Summary: The Shangjiazhuang Mo deposit in the eastern Jiaodong Peninsula is controlled by NW-direction fractures and is formed in three stages: quartz-molybdenite, quartz-chalcopyrite and molybdenite, and quartz-pyrite. The ore-forming fluids evolved from magmatic water to a mixture of meteoric and magmatic water, resulting in the precipitation and enrichment of ore-forming elements. Different types of inclusions coexist in the main metallogenic period as temperature drops, indicating fluid immiscibility or boiling processes leading to CO2 escape.

Molybdenum solubility and partitioning in H2O-CO2-NaCl fluids at 600 °C and 200 MPa

Nuo Li et al.

Summary: This study systematically quantifies the effect of CO2 on the transport and precipitation of molybdenum through high pressure experiments, providing insights into the formation of Collision-type porphyry Mo deposits. The results show that at certain conditions, CO2 can slightly decrease the solubility of molybdenum in the fluid coexisting with molybdenite, and it significantly affects fluid saturation of silicate melts.

Chemical feedbacks during magma degassing control chlorine partitioning and metal extraction in volcanic arcs

B. Tattitch et al.

Summary: The study emphasizes the significance of hydrous fluids released from subducting oceanic lithosphere in arc magmatism and hydrothermal mineralization, especially in the formation of porphyry copper deposits. The authors present experimental determinations and Monte Carlo simulations to show the partitioning of chlorine and its relationship with copper evolution in magmas at different pressures. They highlight the importance of understanding chlorine behavior in magma degassing for efficient copper extraction.

An experimental investigation into the partition of Mo between aqueous fluids and felsic melts: Implications for the genesis of porphyry Mo ore deposits

Ziqi Jiang et al.

Summary: The study reveals that molybdenum (Mo) is easily distributed into fluids exsolved from peralkaline magmas, explaining why highly fractionated magmas are critical for porphyry Mo mineralization.
